From Lille 2004 to Lille 3000

European capital of culture in 2004, Lille and its surrounding region experienced an incredible surge of
cultural and artistic energy. Nine million visitors took part in the region’s cultural transformation
Colorful celebrations and debates, lively exhibitions and shows, iconoclastic and traditional artists,
cinema, dance, literature, theatre: India and visions of the future, have been invited to Lille
last autumn 2006 during
Bombaysers de Lille.
Last Spring 2009, the new edition of lille3000 labeled
Europe XXL endeavored to discover the new Europe
as redefined since the fall of the Berlin Wall, 20 years before 2009: Istanbul, Berlin, Riga, Tallinn,
Vilnius, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo, and Moscow
The next stop for Lille 3000:
Nouveaux Monstres…..a cool techno-art experience in Lille’s most exciting new cultural
venue and place to be, the giant renovated Saint Sauveur train Station in the centre of town.
Waiting for Autumn 2010, and for the first time on the European continent, in Lille thus,
the exhibition on 6 000 sqm of one of the biggest private collections of contemporary art:
a tremendous selection of artworks from the famous Londoner
Saatchi Gallery.
